The Best Double Stroller: Joovy Kooper X Double Stroller Review

The Joovy Kooper X Double stroller is a welcome addition to the market, offering a solution for families with multiple young children. Designed with practicality and versatility in mind, this double stroller manages to strike a balance between convenience, comfort, and maneuverability.

One of the standout features of the Kooper X Double is its sleek and modern design, which doesn’t compromise on functionality. The sturdy frame and robust construction inspire confidence, ensuring that this stroller will withstand the rigors of daily use and last through the years.

The seating arrangement is a thoughtful design element, offering both forward-facing and rear seat facing options for the children. This flexibility accommodates various preferences and allows parents to interact with their kids while on the go. Each seat is generously padded and equipped with a multi-position recline, ensuring a comfortable ride for your little ones.

One area where the Kooper X Double truly shines is maneuverability. Despite its double design, the stroller remains surprisingly agile, thanks to its well-engineered suspension and swivel wheels. Navigating through tight spaces and crowded areas becomes significantly easier, which is crucial for parents dealing with the challenges of managing two children simultaneously.

The storage options on the Kooper X Double are well-thought-out. With spacious under-seat baskets and additional pockets, parents will find ample room to store essentials like the diaper bag, snacks, and personal items. This attention to storage convenience reflects Joovy’s commitment to practicality.

While the Joovy Kooper X Double offers many advantages, there are a few minor considerations to keep in mind. Due to its double seating arrangement, the stroller is naturally wider than a single stroller, which might require extra attention when navigating through narrow doorways or crowded sidewalks.

Additionally, while the maneuverability is commendable, it’s important to note that a double stroller will still have limitations compared to single strollers in terms of agility.

In conclusion, the Joovy Kooper X Double stroller is a strong contender for families with two young children. Its blend of design, durability, and maneuverability makes it a reliable choice for parents seeking a comfortable and efficient means of transporting their children.

While its double design requires a bit more consideration in tight spaces, the benefits it offers in terms of comfort and convenience make it a worthy investment for growing families on the move.

The Nano Duo’s compact fold is a highlight, making it incredibly convenient for storage and travel. It fits comfortably in car trunks and tight storage spaces, making transportation a hassle-free affair.

While the Nano Duo excels in many aspects, it’s essential to note that the compact design may limit the amount of storage space compared to larger double strollers. Additionally, its smaller wheels might not handle rough terrain as smoothly as some other models.

In conclusion, the Mountain Buggy Nano Duo stroller impresses with its compact design, lightweight build, and maneuverability. It’s a great option for families seeking a hassle-free and space-efficient way to transport two children. While it might not be the best choice for heavy-duty terrain or extensive storage needs, its convenience and agility make it a reliable companion for everyday use.

In summary, the Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 stroller excels in urban mobility, combining style and functionality. Its smooth maneuverability, comfortable seating, and convenient folding make it a top choice for parents on the go. While it’s not designed for extreme terrain and storage might be slightly limited, the City Mini GT2 remains a reliable “most” terrain stroller!

Things to Consider when Purchasing the BEST Lightweight Double Stroller for Travel

Size & Weight

The main differences between a regular double stroller and a travel double stroller are going to be the size and weight – there’s no avoiding it really. The best double strollers for travel are considerably lighter and usually smaller than their heavier counterparts (so much easier, especially if travelling without another adult helper).

You’ll still want one with a compact fold, it honestly makes such a difference when travelling. You don’t want your stroller taking up all your valuable luggage space (or arm strength!).

Extra Features

Some of these double prams for travel come with additional features such as more than one cup holder (!!), bag clips etc. I find what is most important, however, are the safety features which are absolute MUSTS – locking wheels, 5 point harness shoulder straps, and a design that ensures it won’t tip when seats are reclined.

Ease of Folding

How do you actually collapse the stroller? Most compact doubles work on a fold in half system where you pull from the centre of the seats and it collapses in two. They are actually easier to fold than a lot of single models and smaller compacts (actually!). Luckily most companies provide YouTube videos now so you can see it in action and practice!

If you are flying or travelling solo (plus kids, obviously), then an easy folding function is a must when you are looking for the best compact double stroller.  Some of the best foldable strollers for travel can quickly and easily be folded up using just one hand.

There will be times when you are trying to hold your baby and fold up the stroller at the same time. A one handed fold will SAVE. YOUR. LIFE.

Your Budget

There are some all singing/all dancing travel strollers out there – but these do come with a higher price tag – and usually a heavier weight (and bigger weight limit too, if we are looking at pros and cons). The best lightweight double strollers for travel that we have listed below are more budget friendly – sitting at $500 or less. Some of these bad boys on the market can set you back thousands of dollars. No thanks.

Type of Double Pram

Do you prefer a lightweight double tandem or side-by-side buggy or stroller? Is it for twins or a baby and toddler, do you need it to recline fully for a newborn do you need a toddler seat and a baby seat? Have a good hard think and read real user reviews before making your decision.

Type of Terrain it Can Handle

A big compromise on making a stroller light and compact is usually the wheels.  By making the wheels smaller, they do not need to be removed when the stroller is folded. This means the wheels may not be as good as larger wheels on rough terrain. Those models with very small wheels may struggle on high curbs, particularly when they’re carrying a full load of kids. Watch that coffee!!

Sun Protection

Getting that child or children to nap is easier when the sun is not glaring in their eyes.  Many of the brands we looked at had somewhat compromised on the sun cover to get smaller and lighter, but we still think the sun canopy is an essential travel feature, which is why all of the travel prams we have recommended don’t skimp on sun protection.

A large extendable canopy is seriously important to keep your babies out of the harsh sunlight. However, there are extra products you can purchase  if the canopies aren’t ideal – just keep this in mind for budtet.

Storage

You’ll still be carrying around all the diapers, snacks and other baby and toddler travel essentials, so choose a lightweight travel stroller with a large storage basket. PLEASE.

One thing I do love about double strollers is the size of the under seat basket – we can always look on the bright side, right! You may still want to use a stroller organiser for important items while you’re travelling without needing to dig in the basket.

Comfort

Your stroller still needs to be comfortable, even if lightweight – so be sure to check out real parent reviews (like our list of the best lightweight double prams for travel below!) so your little ones will enjoy being in it and with any luck nap in it (i’ve got my fingers crossed for you
